Heather Barrick Award
The Heather Barrick Award was set up in 1989 in memory of Heather Lee
Barrick. Born October 12, 1979, died July 6, 1988 of a childhood cancer.
Heather was a team member of the Charles Carroll Recreation Council, playing
for the Stallions for 2 years. She loved baseball and softball, enjoyed hitting the
ball and watching the Orioles play.
This award was set up to honor Heather and other young girls who love the
sport of Softball. Who show team spirit while trying to excel as an individual.
Like life, sports have many winners and losers. But for our children everyone
should be a winner and given the opportunity to be one. This award recognizes
these girls who have displayed exceptional spirit, determination, sacrifice and
team effort.
The award started in 1989 with dedication of the Snack Shack by the community
and the family donating a Snow Cone Machine for the children to enjoy. At that
time a commitment was made to see a child was recognized with an award each
year.
On behalf of the Barrick Family which includes two sons Michael and Matthew
we would like to thank the girls and their family, the Charles Carroll Recreation
Council and all the individuals who have made these awards possible. And to
Congratulate all the girls who have participated and played Softball.
That they may all go on to enjoy life, sports and being a winner.
Sincerely,
Herman and Linda Barrick & Sons
