8U REC Coaching Staff

Coach Kevin
With over two decades of coaching experience across multiple sports, Coach Kevin has been a dedicated leader and mentor in youth athletics since 1998. Starting with a baseball/softball clinic, he quickly moved into coaching roles, including head softball coach for CCRC’s in-house and Mason Dixon leagues from 2000 to 2011, and travel softball in 2011.
He brought his passion to the high school level as the head JV softball coach at Winters Mill in 2012, then led the varsity team from 2013 to 2015. He also coached Westminster Rec. Baseball from 2016 to 2018, contributed two years as an assistant coach with the Hotshots softball program, and spent time coaching CCRC soccer and Wildcats football.
In addition to coaching 8U and 10U baseball for four years, He has been a staple in the basketball community—coaching basketball for 18 years and serving 9 years as the CCRC basketball commissioner. His commitment to youth development, sportsmanship, and teamwork continues to impact athletes across the region.

Coach Brett
Coach Brett has enjoyed watching and playing baseball since his youth and is an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. He is entering his fourth season as an assistant coach, having started his coaching journey with his daughter’s t-ball team. In the spring of 2024, he continued his coaching experience with the Renegades/Cyclones program. Coach Brett looks forward to contributing to the continued growth and success of the program in the years to come.

Coach Zach
Coach Zach has been involved in sports from a young age, playing both travel and high school soccer. He continues to stay active by participating in a men’s league softball team. Coach Zach began his coaching journey with his daughter’s 8U team and found great joy in watching the players grow both individually and as a team. He is grateful for the opportunity to continue coaching alongside Coach Kevin and Coach Brett, and he looks forward to contributing to the team’s success.

Coach Lexi
Coach Lexi has played softball since the age of nine. Growing up in California, she began in rec ball before transitioning to travel softball, where she competed at the “A” level for eight years and traveled the country playing in top tournaments.
She was a four-year Varsity starter in high school, helping lead her team to four League Titles and two Division Championships. Coach Lexi earned 3× All-League honors and received the Coaches Award twice. A true utility player, she has played every position on the field but primarily led the outfield in center field.
Along with playing, Coach Lexi umpired her local rec league for five years and has now been coaching for over 10 years at both the rec and travel levels. Her playing career was unfortunately cut short her freshman year at York College due to multiple knee injuries.
After settling in Maryland, she coached with the Hot Shots organization at the 12U level for two years, helped start a California-based travel team in Hampstead, and later coached for two years with the Firecrackers MD organization. After taking two years off following the birth of her son, Coach Lexi is excited to return to the field and help the next generation of athletes grow and develop while continuing to build the Cyclones Program.
